When something doesn't look right

A few things to check when the board or Controller needs attention.

Most hiccups are worth checking one small thing at a time. Here are a few places to start.

The Display looks offline

What you see: Curate or Play says the Display is offline, or the board has stopped updating.

What to try: Make sure the screen is on and ClackSnack is open. Check its network connection, then reopen ClackSnack on the Display. Give the Controller a moment to reconnect.

If the screen has returned to Pair, follow Pairing a Display.

The sound is off or needs a tap

What you see: The flaps move without a clack, or the Display asks you to tap to enable sound.

What to try: Tap the sound prompt on the Display if one appears. Then open Display settings, go to Sound, and check Clack sound and Volume.

Check the screen’s own volume, too.

The Controller shows an old version

What you see: Someone else has newer controls, or a change you expected isn’t showing up.

What to try: Close and reopen the Controller, then refresh its page.

The build line at the bottom of the profile menu tells you which version is open.

A guest cannot join

What you see: A guest’s code or link isn’t opening the game, or they’re still waiting outside the lobby.

What to try: Make sure the game session is still open, then share its current link or six-digit code again.

If the guest is waiting, the host can open Join requests and let them in. Signed-in household members can join directly from Play, without a code.

A game seems stuck

What you see: The shared board or a player’s phone has stopped advancing.

What to try: Check that the Display and phones are connected.

The host can open the host controls to check the game and players. If the round can’t continue, choose End game. The session stays open, so you can start another game.

The clack lands at the wrong time

What you hear: The clack comes a little before or after the flap moves.

What to try: Open Display settings and tap Sound check.

Watch the stepping flap and adjust Sound delay until the clack lines up with the movement. Then tap Done · sounds right.

The Spread resumes when the sound check ends.
